Jimmy Choo Justine Handbag

Jimmy Choo Justine Handbag

It's official. Bright hues are a major trend for spring. Personally, I love the look in small doses, as Jimmy Choo has done with their new Justine handbag. The sizeable bag is crafted out of sumptuous calfskin and features a contrasting python panel, in your choice of yellow or emerald green. It has a casual slouchy shape that is ideal for weekend wear. The exterior flap pocket offers added convenience and I adore the oversized hardware. The small version retails for $3395, while the large variation will be available at Jimmy Choo boutiques this spring for an additional 600 bucks. The leather iterations are significantly cheaper, but they're a bit bland in comparison. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! I'll be gone from the blogosphere for a few days. Enjoy the holidays with your family and friends. I'll return in 2012, with new contributors and, of course, more designer handbags.

A Python Pucci Pop of Color

Emilio Pucci Python Clutch

It's all about taking a risk and wearing bold accessories this spring. Who could resist this stunning neon orange hue? It's a surefire way to get noticed, especially in luxurious python skin. This exotic Emilio Pucci clutch is accented with an oversized silver clasp, adding to the art deco aesthetic. The silk lining is quintessentially Pucci, featuring an ornate mod print, and the lambskin trim will protect the python skin from peeling. This bag is ideal for women who already have the basics and are ready to take their wardrobe to the next level. Pair this clutch with a little white dress and wait for the compliments to pour in. With measurements of 6" by 4" and a depth of 2", this clutch is the perfect size for garden parties. Only Pucci could manage to make such a bright color appear chic and sophisticated. Purchase at NET-A-PORTER for $1750.

Jump From Paper Bonjour Bag

Cecylia - Jump From Paper Bonjour Bag

I recently discovered  an Aussie fashion blogger and stylist named Cecylia, and she has the most adorable personal style. As I was perusing her blog, I came across this wonderful 2D bag from Taiwanese label, Jump From Paper. The Bonjour bag is perfect for those days when you really don't have that much to carry, but you still want to make a style statement with a fun accessory. It adds a touch of whimsy and a pop of color to any outfit. Although, it appears completely flat from the front, there is a hidden compartment in the back for your essentials. For only $80, it would be a lovely holiday gift for an artsy girl. Shop the collection at Jump From Paper.

Gucci 'Soho' Boston Bag + Fiat 500 by Gucci

Gucci Cruise 2012 Ad Campaign

It's official. I'm completely and utterly obsessed with Gucci's new Soho collection. The hobo restored my faith in Gucci's ability to churn out timeless, lust-inducing bags, but the Boston bag has instantly made it to the top of my must-have list for cruise. It's proof that a simple design can be incredibly powerful and striking when executed correctly. The buttery-soft, sumptuous leather bag is flanked by classic side panels, displaying an unprecedented level of restraint from the typically ostentatious brand. However, it wouldn't be Gucci without the oversized interlocking 'G' logo and tassel zipper fob. Personally, I would have loved the added versatility of a crossbody strap, but the linen lining keeps it light and metal feet will protect the base. This is the perfect casual bag to wear in the crook of your arm and run out the door in effortless style. My only concerns are the empty appearance when it's not packed to capacity, which is impossible because this bag is ginormous, as well as the lack of exterior pockets. However, the overall design and functionality of the interior more than make up for these minor grievances. I adore all of the color variations, but there is a lovely rose hue that you have to see to believe. Purchase at Gucci boutiques for $1395.

Gucci Soho Boston Bag

My newfound Gucci obsession has me wondering if I need to replace my gas guzzling SUV with the incredibly stylish Fiat 500 by Gucci. This is the first designer car collaboration that I can actually afford, but I'm still not sure how I feel about it. Let's ignore the fact that I would never buy a Fiat because they are notoriously unreliable and they're too small for my taste. Instead, I'd like to discuss the concept, in general. We all love luxury labels, but do we really want them on our car?

Marni Clutch + Marni for H&M

Marni Clutch

Sorry I've been posting so infrequently this week. We've reached that awkward time of year when there's not much to review and I'm simply waiting for the spring collections to arrive. However, Marni has been on my radar lately, due to the fact that they have a diffusion line debuting at H&M this March. Known for tribal prints and eclectic styling, Marni is designed for women who aren't afraid to make a bold statement. Unfortunately, the result isn't always aesthetically pleasing. Take this clutch, for instance. The beaded detailing looks like a pre-school art project gone horribly awry. I don't know who would want to wear this bag, but if you're interested, it's available at NET-A-PORTER for $600. In terms of the collection for H&M, I'm highly impressed by what I've seen thus far. It appears to be incredibly wearable, which was certainly a problem with the Versace line, particularly the menswear. On the other hand, these diffusion collections are becoming a bit gimmicky. More than one or two per year is just too much. I also don't like the idea of competing with other fashionistas to get my hands on such limited quantities of merchandise. After all, one of the premier aspects of high-end retail is the exceptional customer service, and that's definitely lacking during these shopping wars. What do you think of these lower-priced luxury collections... overdone or loads of fun?

Lin Danto Jayde Bag

Lin Danto Jayde Bag

Lin Danto landed on my radar this fall with her debut collection of handbags that managed to appear fresh and innovative, but were still timeless and sophisticated. She's back for spring with the ultimate must-have cross-body bag. A simple structured shape allows the unique washed Italian lambskin to take center stage. The turquoise option is sure to get you noticed, while the coral variation is more subtle and feminine. It's also available in neutral cognac and classic black, both of which look stunning with the 24-karat hardware. An adjustable shoulder strap offers added versatility. I love supporting up and coming designers, mostly because they don't rest on name recognition nor inflate their prices. In fact, the Jayde bag retails for a very reasonable $965, while the petite version is $785. Shop Lin Danto's spring collection at La Scala and Searle boutiques in New York, as well as handbago.com, come February.

Alexander Wang Kirsten Clutch

Alexander Wang Kirsten Clutch

Alexander Wang Kirsten ClutchWhen Alexander Wang initially introduced the Kirsten bag, I was immediately drawn to the belt detailing. However, on the larger designs, it was a bit overwhelming.  This new clutch variation, on the other hand, adds the perfect amount of downtown cool to a simple outfit. I love the textural mix of tonal suede and leather. It may appear difficult to access, but the interior actually features a simple zippered closure. The wristlet will certainly come in handy when you've had one too many glasses of champagne. Although, this clutch is ideal for clubbing, it's definitely large enough for quick jaunts to the grocery store. To be honest, I was starting to worry that Wang was a one hit wonder with the uber covetable Rocco bag. However, I'm intrigued by this clutch and I can't wait to see what he comes up with next. Purchase at NET-A-PORTER for $530.
