The Costume Institute Gala, commonly referred to as the Oscars of the fashion industry, took place last night at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. I always look forward to the haute couture at The Met Ball, but this year was a bit lackluster. Too many women played it safe. In fact, the most interesting look was donned by a man. Vogue Editor Hamish Bowles paid tribute to Alexander McQueen in a plaid kimono, which he paired with custom Christian Louboutins. Christina Ricci, however, was the bell of the ball in this intricate Zac Posen gown. Wednesday Addams is all grown up and she's a goth sex kitten.

Unless you've been living under a rock at the bottom of the ocean, you've seen photo after photo of Kate Middleton's Alexander McQueen wedding gown plastered
everywhere. Since royal wedding coverage isn't your everyday fashion fare, let's relive the moment once more.
Alexander McQueen's Sarah Burton designed Kate's gown, as well as her sister Pippa's dress (seen at top, holding Kate's train), which I also loved. Kate was photographed later that day in McQueen, yet again, at the post-wedding evening party at Buckingham Palace. I'm sure the day was just as exciting for the McQueen brand as it was for Kate - coverage was LITERALLY from sun up to sun down.
Speaking of relentless press, Gwyneth Paltrow's team deserves a vacation and spa treatment for all the hard work they've been putting in this past year. Between her appearances on Glee and award shows (to push her slow going singing career, I'm sure), her book, and role in Country Strong, Gwyneth has been all over the place. Now the actress will be taking on a new role starting this September, as the face of Coach. To be honest, I've never been a huge fan of the brand (I'm extremely unimpressed with the large number of bags that are riddled with the logo), but I have seen a few new shoulder bags that were cute and understated.
In other news, my favorite Gossip Girl Leighton Meester has been spotted showcasing her ad campaign for Vera Wang's Lovestruck perfume. This is one of the first images to hit the web, and so far I'm loving it. The hair and makeup is perfect, and I'm smitten with the maroon, strapless Vera Wang gown. Gorge!
I love a Sarah Jessica Parker sighting as much as the next gal, but I'm not so sure about this ensemble she wore to the Brooklyn Artists Ball last week. Not a fan of her Lanvin dress, due to the blah shade of green, and I'm definitely not a supporter of the odd pairing of the tweed Chanel jacket with it. Yes, its Chanel - but let's not pair it with just anything. On a brighter note, I've become obsessed all over again with Sex and the City, now that E! has the series in syndication. Are you just as convinced as I, that Carrie and Big deserve each other - if for nothing more than their self-inflicted drama.
