Christina Aguilera was one of the biggest stars around during the late 90s and early millennium. Though her career itself has been up and down, she was one of the few to be casted as a judge for the new NBC show, The Voice. I actually caught part of The Voice, which premiered on Tuesday night, and was surprisingly entertained. The element of having the judges compete to get the best singers on their individual teams seemed lackluster to me. Yet, watching this technique unfold throughout the show was compelling. Christina, of course, played the role of the sweet, sincere female judge, while rocking the biggest wig NBC could get their hands on. It will be interesting to see who pulls off the most amusing looks between she and Cee-Lo. Recently, Christina Aguilera rocked a more laid back and casual ensemble while picking up her son from pre-school. There wasn't anything exciting about this legging and oversized screen tee look, besides Christina's must-have red Givenchy Nightingale. Fire engine red handbags are one of my favorite trends for the spring and summer seasons and this bag definitely fits the mold. The satchel is adorned in buttery-soft, smooth red leather, and features a removable shoulder strap as well as logo embossed handles. This bag is a great carry-all for any woman, but only Xtina could pull it off with bright red lipstick. Purchase at Barney's for $1,660.

Weekly Fashion Roundup
Actress Gwyneth Paltrow was spotted at a Beverly Hills Williams-Sonoma store last Thursday for the book signing of her new cookbook, My Father's Daughter. Paltrow was spotted wearing a bright yellow satin dress designed by Rachel Roy. If you love this hue as much as I do, be sure to check out Chanel's latest limited edition nail polish, Mimosa.According to E! Online, Angelina Jolie has been cast for a Louis Vuitton campaign. Although the news is only a rumor, it has received major buzz and everybody is wondering if it's true. Sources are unsure whether or not Angelina will be in the upcoming fall 2011 campaign or something totally different. Louis Vuitton has declined to comment on this rumor, so I'm going to assume that it's true. E! Online suggests that Angelina is getting $10 million for the deal. Is this a good idea and what will happen to the six young models that have allegedly been cast in the Louis Vuitton campaign already?
Last week, J.Crew was sued for naming its "Duquette leopard print sweater" after interior designer Tony Duquette, who is known for his use of leopard print on wallpaper, fabric, and furniture. Although Duquette died in 1999, his company continues to run via the new owner, Hutton Wilkinson. Wilkinson has accused J.Crew of trademark infringement stating that J.Crew used the Duquette name without permission. The cardigan has since been removed from the J.Crew website but has been replaced with a similar-looking version named the "wild spots cardigan." Does Wilkinson have a case?
Naomi Campbell graces the cover of Japanese Vogue's June issue wearing a spring 2011 Gucci dress. The cover was shot by Inez van Lamsweerde as well as Vinoodh Matadin, and Naomi looks absolutely stunning. Critics, of course, have been giving their own opinion, stating that Naomi may have finally lost her luster. Some even called this cover bland, but what do you think?

Miu Miu Fluorescent Green Shoulder Bag
Taking this spring's bright hue trend to new heights, Miuccia Prada has designed the ultimate must-have accessory for the fashion forward set. Presented in the runway show of Miu Miu's spring, summer 2011 collection, this fluorescent green crossbody bag will surely make a stylish statement. The supple nappa leather is incredibly smooth, and it pairs beautifully with the polished brass hardware. An oversized turn-lock closure allows for easy accessibility, and three separate compartments as well as two interior pockets provide the necessary functionality. This bag can be worn as a daytime clutch as well as a shoulder or cross-body bag, with the addition of the detachable straps, one of which features a cutout detail that is exclusive to this spring's collection. Both straps can also be worn as a chic belt. Style it with this season's whites, or embrace color-blocking and wear this bag with a myriad of other vibrant tones. Purchase at Net-a-Porter.com for $1,095.

Beyonce's Jimmy Choo Rosabel Top Handle
It's about that time ladies and gentlemen. Beyonce is back and better than ever. Not only has her new track, "Girls (Who Run The World)," leaked, but she has been spotted glamming it up all over France. She and her hubby, Jay-Z, have spent the past week on vacation in Paris and Beyonce has pulled out her best looks for the fashion capital. I'm loving this floral cutout dress from the Preen Fall/Winter 2011 Runway Show, although, I'm not quite sure how I feel about the pairing of snakeskin accessories with it. However, designers like Dolce & Gabbana and Rodarte did mix seemingly opposing prints in their spring collections, most notably florals. Plus, one can never go wrong with snakeskin pumps, especially when they're Christian Louboutin. Her Jimmy Choo Rosabel bag, however, is the item that steals the show. The Elaphe Snakeskin offers a more luxurious take on the classic leather variation, and a suede lining contributes to the extravagance. The top handle is finished with Choo's signature flip-lock flap closure and a slim belt looped through metal grommets. I am especially fond of the dual straps which give the overall design a timeless appeal. I'm sure this sizeable bag came in very handy for Beyonce, while shopping on the Avenue des Champs-Élysées. The Rosabel top handle
ranges in price from $1750 to well over $3000. Ouch! At least the sophisticated styling, superior construction, and exceptional functionality will last you a lifetime.

Kotur Margo Minaudiere
A few weeks ago, we previewed the Kotur Fall 2011 line of accessories and were blown away by the intricate detailing and expert craftsmanship. The Margo clutch is my favorite piece in the collection. Featuring luxurious velvet and glamorous fringe, this bag is a showstopper. The oversized tassel is guaranteed to get you noticed, as is the beautiful mosaic of bright red, shimmering gold, and black that comprises the body of the minaudiere. Quintessentially Kotur semi-precious gemstones adorn the clasp. This breathtaking collection reflects a time when women embraced opulence and excess. You don't have to pay an arm and a leg, however. Come fall, this minaudiere will be available at Koturltd.com for $395.

My Jimmy Choo Trent Snakeskin iPhone Case
First and foremost, I have to thank those of you who participated in my iPhone case poll. You definitely helped me to make the final decision, and I hope that you're as pleased with my selection as I am. The Jimmy Choo Trent iPhone case is the perfect marriage of function and style. There's something about the glossy black snakeskin that I find absolutely irresistible. It manages to appear both glamorous and sexy at the same time. The pièce de résistance is undoubtedly the grosgrain pull tab, which allows for incredibly simple removal of the phone. If you're in the market for something a bit softer, this iPhone case is also available in coarse glitter fabric.

Weekly Fashion Roundup

Things are certainly not looking up for John Galliano. In fact, the backlash after his anti-Semitic rant continues, this time influencing his removal from his own line, John Galliano. While he temporarily stayed on as the head designer, following his dismissal from Dior, the board recently decided to break further ties with Galliano. 91 percent owned by Dior, the John Galliano line seems to be going forward without him. There is also talk of the line possibly being sold. Are you over the prolonged punishment or is the backlash to be expected after such unacceptable behavior?
On a lighter note, Emma Stone was spotted earlier this week in an adorable minty blue Preen dress from their Spring '11 line. Pastels have been all the rage this season, and while I prefer this dress without the belt breaking up the torso, she still looks quite beautiful. There are so many ways you can incorporate this trend into your day-to-day wardrobe.
After much criticism about the brand featuring uber skinny models in its commercials and catalogue, Victoria's Secret may have found a curvier muse in model Kate Upton. I must agree that I've been extremely confused in some of the more recent VS faces and forms, such as Chanel Iman, who are ideal for high fashion but seemingly odd choices for lingerie modeling. I think Upton, who has graced Sports Illustrated's swimsuit issue, is a step in the right direction.
In related news, Upton was tied to Kanye West earlier this month, with the NYPost saying the rapper had "set his sights" on the model. While I'm highly unsure of whether they've dated/hooked up/ever met, my chances of caring are... going, going, GONE! Who would you pick as the next face of Victoria's Secret?

Theyskens' Theory Sequin Clutch
When I discovered that Olivier Theyskens would be following up his illustrious career at such esteemed design houses as Nina Ricci and Rochas with a diffusion line at the American apparel label, Theory, I wasn't thrilled. I figured that it was just a branding opportunity and Theyskens wouldn't have much design direction. However, the collaboration turned out to be a match made in heaven. Theory's wardrobe of basics and affordable pricing mixed with Theyskens' glamorous aesthetic, resulted in a chic collection of wearable art. Take this stunning clutch, for instance. Black canvas is on trend for spring and, more importantly, it helps to keep the price within reason. A classic shape and removable chain-link strap give you the option of wearing this clutch as a shoulder bag. The tulle and gunmetal sequin embellishment had me at hello. Pair this clutch with a leather mini dress [also in the collection] and paint the town red in effortless style. Purchase for $645 at Net-a-Porter.com. Do yourself a favor and check out the entire collection. There are quite a few must-haves at unbelievable prices.

Rihanna's Givenchy Mini Pandora Messenger
Giving one celebrity too much shine is certainly not my intention, but you simply cannot deny how fabulous Rihanna looked leaving her favorite restaurant, Giorgio Baldi, earlier this week. Maybe it's the new pixie haircut that finally makes this fiery red color work for her? Or could it be the fact that she's rocking the impeccably fashion forward Burberry Prorsum Crochet and Leather Trench Coat that excites me? Either way, I would love to be decked out in this entire look. Her white pencil skirt is definitely on trend for the season and it is flawlessly complimented with the breathtaking Givenchy Mini Pandora Messenger. I'm a sucker for animal prints and leopard printed pony hair practically screams, "glam!" I wasn't completely sold on the larger version of this bag, but the mini variation is effortlessly chic, thanks in large part to the cross-body strap. Riccardo Tisci truly achieved the perfect marriage between functionality and high fashion. Well worth the splurge of $1685 at Barney's New York.

Daryl K Shackleton Messenger Bag
Daryl Kerrigan's store was once a gathering place for the downtown chic crowd, before heading out to the hottest nightclubs in the city. After nearly two decades of designing clothing for the rock 'n' roll set and launching a highly impressive denim collection, Daryl K has evolved into a New York institution. Her primary focus of blending comfort and style is easily apparent in the must-have collection of accessories for spring. The Shackleton messenger epitomizes her downtown cool aesthetic. This decidedly utilitarian bag is incredibly versatile. With coin, credit card, and pen pockets sewn right in, you don't even need a wallet. An adjustable strap offers added wearability, in that you can effortlessly transition from shoulder bag to cross-body messenger. The supple full grain cowhide leather is available in two neutral shades. I'm a die-hard cognac fanatic, but one can never go wrong with basic black. Personally, I can't get enough of the removable wristlet. During the day, it's an ideal compartment for sunglasses or a digital camera, but at night, it doubles as a fabulous clutch. Purchase the Shackleton messenger bag directly from Daryl K for $895.

Weekly Fashion Roundup

Jessica Alba graced the pages of Vogue Italia's April issue rocking a jet black bob, and styled in "darkly sophisticated ensembles" by Alice Gentilucci. Shot by photographer Michelangelo di Battista in a setting filled with vintage cars, she shows off her assets in form-fitting pieces from Lanvin, Prada, and Dolce & Gabbana. What do you think of Jessica's sultry makeover?

Rose McGowan (formally of Charmed) recently attended the New Museum's Spring Gala, wearing an aquamarine mini-dress featuring ruched tulle and pleated detailing at the skirt's hem. She accessorized the look with a silver clutch and metallic shoes. What do you think of her appearance? Was Rose the embodiment of Sesame Street chic or should she have conjured up a spell to make this dress disappear?
Yves Saint Laurent's spring 2011 line features a pair of red suede shoes with matching soles, that have prompted Christian Louboutin to file court papers claiming that YSL has ripped off his trademark red soles. Although the collection offers other color variations, such as purple, navy, and green, only the red version is sparking legal action. While YSL's platform pumps are distinctive in the shape and contour of the sole as well as the heel, Louboutin's legal team argues that "the defendants use of red footwear outsoles that are virtually identical to plaintiff's red sole mark is likely to cause and is causing confusion, mistake and deception among the relevant purchasing public as to the origin of the infringing footwear." Does Louboutin have a point or is he just afraid of a little competition?Saturday, April 9, 2011
Mary Jo Matsumoto Floral Bridal Bags
You may remember Mary Jo Matsumoto from her multitude of guest features on BagPoor, but you're probably not aware of the fact that she's an incredibly talented designer, as well as a purveyor of all things luxury. If you simply can't get enough glamour, femininity and artwork, be sure to check out her blog, TrustYourStyle. Mary Jo has exquisite taste in handbags and jewelry, so it's only fitting that she merge the two into a gorgeous collection of bridal bags. This handbag is my favorite piece from the line, and I'm not the only one who's impressed with her designs. In fact, these handbags have been showcased in a great deal of bridal magazines. Handcrafted out of pink or purple silk peonies, and featuring an amethyst or pearl handle, these bags are the epitome of decadence. Best of all, you can wear them time and time again. Purchase directly from Mary Jo's Etsy shop for a very reasonable $215.

Furla Candy Satchel
I have had this Paris Fashion Week image saved to my computer for months, with no idea who the street stylista is, nor the designer of her bag. At first, I thought it might be Prada, because Miuccia incorporated so many bright hues in the spring collection, and she's never afraid to utilize innovative materials. Then my boss was positive that it was Bally, and she knows everything about everything, so I assumed that she was correct. Well, ladies and gentlemen, this elusive satchel is actually Furla, a traditional Italian brand known for their timeless designs. I love the juxtaposition of the classic shape, paired with the bold material choice of rubber. A pop of color is one of spring's biggest trends, and this just may be the perfect bag for anyone who wants to embrace that look, simply because it's so affordable. Purchase the Candy satchel directly from Furla for only $195. Now you just have to decide which color is right for you. I'm leaning towards the pink version, but I'm drawn to the blue iteration as well.

Jessica Alba's Prada Madras Satchel
Best known as a beauty spokesperson for various corporations, rather than her sub-par acting abilities, Jessica Alba has always been one of Hollywood's most sought after beauties. She was recently spotted on her way to work on a new project at the Radium/Reel FX Creative Studio in Santa Monica. Jessica kept it simple and chic in a black blazer and adorable denim trousers by Seven Jeans. She topped off her look with the exquisite Prada Madras Satchel. The bag features interwoven strips of black and burnt orange leather in a combination that practically screams, "Spring!" It also comes with a removable shoulder strap, providing an option to wear this bag more casually across the body. No wonder Jessica couldn't resist. The soon-to-be mom will definitely need to go hands' free in the near future. Purchase at Prada for $2,650 and add a statement making bag to your Spring wardrobe.

Victoria Beckham Lizard Clutch
After a strong showing with her debut handbag collection last fall, Victoria Beckham is back for spring with quite a few chic offerings. This sleek clutch is what I like to call, "timeless with a twist." Obviously, the overall design is decidedly classic and sophisticated. It's a basic flap clutch featuring a simple, art deco inspired, clasp. What really makes this bag special is the gorgeous blush pink hue of the lizard skin. The black calfskin leather is undoubtedly buttery-soft, but I'm not convinced that it creates the best color combination. That lovely pink hue is perfect for this season, and it would have looked much better against chocolate, grey, or even the nude color that was utilized for the lining. Pair this clutch with a cocktail dress and sky high heels for a glamorous evening look. Purchase at Net-a-Porter.com for $2,750.

Givenchy Coney Crossbody Bag
In case you haven't heard, Ricardo Tisci has been named as John Galliano's replacement at the house of Dior. After witnessing the complete turn around that he was able to achieve at Givenchy, I can't wait to see his innovative design influences at Christian Dior, particularly in the accessories department. For now, let's just enjoy Tisci's last spring collection for Givenchy. The Coney crossbody bag is a real showstopper. The juxtaposition of the printed calf hair, contrasted with the white and black Italian leather flap is an incredibly chic combination. With measurements of 5.5" x 7" x 2.5", this bag is ideal for weekend wear. The strap will adjust to various shoulder heights to ensure the perfect fit, and the leather lining adds a touch of luxury. In the April issue of Harper's Bazaar, Tisci defined the new Obsedia clasp "as a combination of the words obsession and Dia, a goddess." He explained that the closure "marries religious and military symbolism while also mixing masculine and feminine design elements." Purchase at Barneys New York for $2,225. Also available in basic black for $1,770.

Gucci Woven Top Handle
Handcrafted by artisans, this top handle is the pièce de résistance of Gucci's spring collection. I certainly can appreciate superior craftsmanship and high-quality materials, but I am truly conflicted as to whether or not I like this bag. I adore the woven, almost tribal, detailing at the base of the bag as well as the handles. With measurements of 14.6"L x 7.5"W x 11.8"H, this sizeable top handle will undoubtedly hold all of your daily essentials, and the three interior pockets will keep you organized. Obviously, this bag is perfect for the office, but it's not so stuffy that you can't wear it on the weekend. The linen lining keeps it from getting too heavy, and the leather feet will protect your investment. To quote Tim Gunn, the hanging identification tag in addition to the key holder is "a lot of look." Luckily, they're both detachable. Embrace the bright hue trend with this gorgeous blue pop of color, or keep it neutral with the taupe version. Lastly, the high-shine hardware is so elegant and luxurious. This top handle is truly a fresh take on a timeless design. There's just one little problem. I can't seem to ignore the fact that the belt and lock closure is a complete knockoff of the Hermès Birkin. If you're not bothered by this minor detail, purchase this bag at Net-a-Porter.com for $4,200. Although the Birkin is obnoxiously more expensive, I'd rather save up and have the real thing.
