Faye Resnick's Jimmy Choo Riki Shoulder Bag

Faye Resnick - Jimmy Choo Riki Shoulder Bag

Anyone who knows me is well aware of the fact that I'm obsessed with Bravo's Real Housewives series. I simply can't get enough of the excessive spending, fraudulent acts, and screaming matches between these women. I was particularly fond of the Beverly Hills edition and Kyle Richards stole my heart with her fiery spirit. She recently hosted a shopping event with her niece, Nicky Hilton, and was photographed with "the morally corrupt Faye Resnick." Both ladies looked quite chic dressed in Alice + Olivia. Loving Kyle's wide leg pants and Faye's wispy sheer skirt is alluring and right on trend for spring. Of course, Faye is also wearing the Yves Saint Laurent Tribtoo pumps I've been dieing to get my hands on as well as the Jimmy Choo Riki Shoulder Bag. I adore this bag for the incredibly supple leather and super functional metal tab closure. The best detail is, of course, the combination of the woven leather straps and gold grommets. This is a gorgeous bag for spring, especially with all the pale pink and neutral tones this season has to offer. Purchase at Net-a-Porter.com for $1750.

Valentino Bow Clutch

Valentino Bow Clutch

Valentino does it again. Although this clutch isn't as glamorous and luxurious as we're used to, the refreshingly simple take on femininity is a nice departure for the brand. The beautiful blush pink hue will pair flawlessly with your little white dresses for spring and summer. Additionally, the satin finish gives you the option of dressing this clutch up for evening. The bow detail is quintessentially Valentino, and I love the fact that they've included a strap that enables you to slip your fingers behind the bow, as not to conceal it. Lastly, the shoulder strap will definitely come in handy when you've had one too many glasses of champagne. Purchase at Net-a-Porter.com for $845. That's what I love about Valentino. Although, most of their bags are thousands of dollars, they always offer a few options for us mere mortals.

Weekly Fashion Roundup

Kelly Osbourne was recently spotted at the Macy's Beverly Hills store celebrating the launch of Madonna's latest Material Girl collection. Ms. Osbourne was seen rocking a pale unbuttoned denim shirt over a polka-dot blouse and a bright floral print miniskirt. She polished her look by adding a few chunky bracelets and peep-toe heels. So what do you think of this look? Is Kelly dishing up something fierce or are these competing prints hurting your eyes too?

Last Wednesday, Vanessa Hudgens attended the L.A. premiere of Sucker Punch and made quite a statement with her gown, which appeared to have a leaf pattern made of silver crushed velvet. However, this dress is from Jenny Packham's spring collection and it's actually embroidered with a variety of sequins. Is this just a bad angle or is that one ugly frock?

Is it just me or is Proenza Schouler's PS1 satchel eerily similar to Target's new Mossimo messenger? According to Proenza designer Lazaro Hernandez, Target's bag has both the same "attitude" and "slouch" as the PS1. "They got the weight really right," he admitted to the Times' Cathy Horyn. Knockoffs happen all the time, but this is a slap in the face to Proenza Schouler, who previously partnered with Target on a lower-priced line. Schouler's CEO was particularly upset and had this to say regarding Target's knockoff bag: "So our product is in Target right now, and then this bag comes out... It's just disappointing, especially from someone we worked with." Talk about dampening a professional relationship. Not a good look Target!

Isaac Mizrahi Tote

Isaac Mizrahi Tote

I don't know about all of you, but everytime I make a quick jaunt to run a few errands, I end up with a gazillion plastic bags, and no amount of glamour can make up for such an offensive crime against fashion. A sizeable shopper can help you maintain your chic throughout the day. Not to mention the fact that they're much better for the environment. Shockingly enough, Isaac Mizrahi, has designed the perfect shopping tote for spring. Simple, clean lines will enable you to wear this bag with anything. High-quality, durable construction ensures long-lasting wearability. Pops of color are all the rage this season, and I'm definitely digging the bright green hue. Purchase at Stanley Korshak for $1350. This tote is also available in blue for an extra $100.

Jimmy Choo 'Candice' Clutch

Jimmy Choo Candice Clutch

When your evening look is in desperate need of a hint of glamour, look no further than the Jimmy Choo 'Candice' clutch. It's a throwback to one of my favorite decades in fashion, the disco era, when opulence was all the rage. The multi-tonal, crystal-embellished snake charm could have easily gone overboard, but set against the backdrop of neutral black suede, it adds the perfect amount of color and extravagance. The gathered suede flap conceals a sizeable interior compartment, featuring an oversized zipper pull for added drama and ease. A gold satin lining completes the luxurious look. Pair this clutch with sky high heels and a slinky cocktail dress for the ultimate Diana Ross moment. Purchase at Net-a-Porter.com for $1,595.

Matthew Williamson Fringed Shoulder Bag

As most of you know by now, my handbag obsession started many years ago, and in fact, my first bag that wasn't crafted by the world class artisans at Jansport, was a bright red Ecko messenger. If my memory serves me correctly it was $60, which was a major investment in 8th grade. I loved the bag dearly, but it caused quite a few traumatic experiences. For some reason, the logo plaque would snag on everything. Unfortunately, the distressed look wasn't "in" at the time, and my mom insisted that I stop wearing my beloved bag. Of course, I ignored her advice and ultimately ruined a great deal of my jackets. At least I had the excuse of being young and stupid. Anyone who can't spot the dangers of this Matthew Williamson shoulder bag, from a mile away, should seriously consider getting their eyes checked. I absolutely love fabric bags and I'm thrilled that they're making a major comeback this season, but silk is completely inappropriate for handbag design. It's just way too delicate, especially when you factor in sequins, which aren't exactly known for their staying power and durability either. The addition of super long fringe pretty much guarantees that this bag will be a goner in no time. One false move on an escalator or an unexpected rain shower could potentially take this bag out of commission. Even if this bag were remotely practical, it's absolutely hideous. It's as if the silk, sequined animal print is competing against the dégradé fringe for the grand prize of ugliest handbag feature of the year. To add insult to injury, this monstrosity retails for nearly $2,000. What the fug were the buyers at Net-a-Porter.com thinking?

Rihanna's Prada Canapa and Cinghiale Tote

Rihanna - Prada Canapa and Cinghiale Tote

A few days before Chris Brown's infamous Good Morning America appearance, the center of his dismay went out for dinner at one of her favorite spots, Giorgio Baldi. The last thing on Rihanna's mind is probably the success, or lack thereof, of Chris Brown's new F.A.M.E. album, but they will indefinitely have to refer to each other throughout their careers due to the magnitude of Chrihannagate 2009. I, for one, love Chris Brown more than the average fan but he's got to take a cue from Rihanna and run the media instead of letting the media run him. Rihanna for instance, obviously loves the paparazzi and puts on a fashion show for them everyday. On this night in Palisades, California, she opted for a decidedly toned down look with an adorable color-block dress by Celine and a pair of surprisingly cute loafers. I usually detest loafers on women but these actually work for Rihanna with this look. Her Prada Canapa and Cinghiale Tote is also a nice touch. The chic top handle silhouette and rich cream hue is just the right amount of subtlety to counter Ri Ri's fiery red hair. Stay chic and cool like Rihanna and purchase this bag at Neiman Marcus for $1,750.

Weekly Fashion Roundup

Speculation about Rihanna's American Vogue spread has quieted. Now that the images have made it to the web, there's nothing left to do but flip (or scroll) through photos and weigh in. I, for one, really liked the cover shot: the sheer mermaid dress and the striking red hair. And of course she's giving us face. Some of my faves, however, were inside the pages.

I especially loved this shot. The navy blue, long sleeved body suit was ridiculously fierce along with the burgundy hued hair and deep red lips. FLY!

In other news, fur was present in a major way on the runways. An array of colors and styles for Fall, gave a playful flair to the sometimes stuffy trend. I've never really been a big fan of fur, but what do you think of Kate Moss's look? The model was seen wearing an Isabel Marant fur coat, with streaks of red around the collar, and various peaks of brown blended throughout.

In case you're wondering, she's carrying a Longchamp handbag that retails for $990. The bag is actually from the brand's Kate Moss collection (of course!). It honestly looks like your standard black tote, and from the pic it seems that she's thrown her life in there, from the stretching/pulling near the straps (I'm guilty too). Overall, it's a mediocre design that clearly can't be overstuffed. I'll pass.

Zoe Kravitz was named one the "Hottest Breakout Stars of 2011" in Rolling Stone, and I'd have to say that I agree that she's definitely on the up-and-comer watch list. Some recent roles she has taken on have been in The Brave One, as well as Yelling to the Sky (with Gabourey Sidibe). I happened to see her in The Greatest (Carey Mulligan played a lead role), and the movie was a pleasant surprise, although on a morbid topic.

While the 22 year old hasn't fallen far from the legacy of her rocker parents, Lenny Kravitz and Lisa Bonet, the actress has been in a number of campaigns (Eleven Paris, Alexander Wang) and taken on some solid roles. Can't wait to see more from her!

What's in my [cosmetic] bag?

Fendi Cosmetic Bag

It's amazing how much my taste in handbags has changed over the years. I've worn everything from a bright red Coach messenger to a pony-hair D&G tote, but the obsession all started with classic monogrammed Fendi and Gucci bags. Never one to follow trends, now that everybody is embracing sophisticated styling, I'm finding myself drawn to the logomania of yesteryear. After my recent trip to New York, I came to the realization that I was in desperate need of a new cosmetic bag, and when I spotted this little beauty at Yoox, I simply couldn't resist. The coated canvas is incredibly durable and will certainly be easier to keep clean than my old faux suede cosmetic bag. I know that some may disagree, but in my opinion, monograms in monochromatic darker hues are just as elegant and timeless as leather.

Male Beauty Products

I figured that some of you may be curious as to what I actually put in my cosmetic bag, so I've decided to share my top five beauty must-haves for Spring.

1. Ouidad Climate Control Heat & Humidity Gel - Seriously tames frizz, even here in Houston.

2. Clarisonic Mia Skin Cleansing System - Promotes smoother, clearer skin and improves the efficacy of other beauty products. I hesitated to purchase this device, due to the hefty price tag, but it's well worth the investment. Trust!

3. Dermalogica Daily Resurfacer - Brightening, tightening, exfoliating... this product does it all.

4. Iman Luxury Radiance Liquid Makeup - For the price, there is no better foundation on the market today. Plus, it's packed full of minerals that truly nourish the skin.

5. Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male Cologne - This crisp, universally pleasing scent is perfect for Spring.

That rounds out my list. Are there any beauty products that you simply can't live without this season?

Blake Lively for Chanel

Blake Lively - Chanel Ad Campaign
Small Patent Calfskin Bowling Bag

There are many shows that I'm addicted to and Gossip Girl is not one of them. I've been told [incessantly] how much I would love it, but never took the time to tune in. Now that Karl Lagerfeld is giving Blake Lively his official sign of approval by making her the poster girl for Chanel, I feel obliged to check it out. Introducing Chanel's 2011 line of Mademoiselle handbags, Lively is shown daunting the red patent leather bag and a Chanel feathered top while seemingly gazing at her reflection in the mirror. I'm loving everything about this ad campaign from Lively's pale yet flawless skin to the triple reflection of the Mademoiselle bag in the mirror.

Small Galuchat Bowling Bag

Of course the genius behind the legendary French house was also the master photographer. As for Lively's aspirations in fashion, she dished to WWD that she'd rather bow to idols like Karl Lagerfeld than compete in the fashion industry amongst them. Smart move by the fashion muse who is now the first non-European to be the face of Chanel. Lively and a few lucky celebs will be the only ones toting this bag for awhile. It hasn't hit stores yet, but I'm sure this bag will be flying off the shelves once it does.

Reed Krakoff Boxer Clutch

Reed Krakoff Boxer Clutch

Coach has truly blown me away with the Reed Krakoff handbag collection. As most of you already know, the Boxer II bag left a lasting impression on me, and now I'm obsessed with the clutch iteration. Incorporating the knotted strap detail with a touch of luxurious python skin was ingenious. The belt may seem like more trouble than it's worth, but in truth it's mostly just for aesthetics. Thanks to the zip-top closure, you have the option of never unfastening the buckle. As with almost all of the designs from Krakoff, this clutch easily transitions from day to night, you can dress it up or wear it with your favorite pair of jeans, and it's timeless without being stuffy. What more can you ask for? I prefer the basic black option, but if you're feeling a bit more daring, pick up the fire engine red variation and save 300 bucks. Purchase at Net-a-Porter.com for $990. A chic design in an exotic skin for less than a grand? Quelle surprise!

Rebecca Minkoff Cheetah Hobo

I have a mild obsession with big cats, that was initiated by Big Cat Diary on Animal Planet. In fact, I'll never forget the season that featured an adorable baby cheetah named Toto, whose mom, Honey, had quite a difficult time raising the rambunctious little tyke. As with most of my interests, my fascination with big cats has carried over into the wonderful world of handbags. For fall I coveted brightly hued leopard prints. This season I can't get enough of the Cheetah Hobo from Rebecca Minkoff. The print has actually been laser-etched into the natural bridle Italian leather flap. Another detail that stood out to me was the light golden hardware. It gives the bag a high-end designer look. The adjustable strap gives you the option of wearing this bag as a hobo or a messenger. An adorable kiss print dust bag will keep your investment in pristine condition when not in use. Best of all, it retails for only $425. For that price, I'll forgive the fact that it's not lined.

Weekly Fashion Roundup

Obviously Kanye West didn't get the memo stating that he wasn't invited to the Louis Vuitton Show. Despite his involvement with designing a few accessories for the brand, reportedly West showed up to Paris Fashion Week uninvited and was asked politely to leave. A KCD rep for Balmain's show tells Page Six: "Mr. West requested to attend and we let him know we would not be able to accommodate him. He chose to come to the door anyway and we kindly let him know we could not accommodate him." They go on to say that Kanye tried his luck at Alexander McQueen's event and was eventually let in through a side entrance by "venue management" and not through the front door like everyone else. Not a good look Kanye.

At the recent L.A. premiere of her new movie, Battle: Los Angeles, actress Michelle Rodriguez stunned everyone when she showed up wearing an asymmetrical black dress, with a ruffled shoulder, designed by Basil Soda. We're not sure if we approve. It's nice to see her embrace her femininity, but the ruffled shoulder and train are overwhelming her.

Another style blog bites the dust? Maybe! Rumors have emerged that the entire staff of AOL's StyleList has been laid off. This is following the news that AOL would eliminate over 200 jobs in the U.S. True or False? Who knows, but according to a source from Racked, "it's not clear if there will even be a Stylelist after today." Well, there's always BagPoor right?!

For all of you ladies with unnecessary baggage (under the eyes that is), Bobbi Brown has just the thing for you. Bobby Brown's new pocket sized kit includes side-by-side pots of concealer and pressed powder for offsetting those unsightly dark circles and awful blemishes. This formula blends and covers without drying out the skin and the pressed powders sets your makeup so that it doesn't disappear midday. From porcelain to chestnut, this kit includes fourteen dual shades for various skin tones. Bobbi Brown's 2.5-inch Compact Creamy Concealer Kit is going for $32 online.

Bally Redgrave Clutch

Bally Redgrave Clutch

To be completely honest, Bally is one of those stores in the mall that I usually skip. The few times that I've actually perused the selection, I'm typically disappointed with the overall sporty, almost cheap vibe that I get from most of their bags and even the footwear. Therefore, when I spotted the Redgrave clutch on Net-a-Porter.com, I was in utter shock. Black and white is such a stylish color combination, and I'm definitely digging the canvas trend for summer, although I would admittedly be a bit paranoid about upkeep. Imagine attending a garden party, wearing a brightly hued dress and carrying this clutch. Heads would definitely turn. Golden hardware and buckled side-tabs add to the sophisticated aesthetic. The optional shoulder strap and removable top-handles are completely pointless. In my opinion, this bag is a chic daytime clutch, through and through. I only have one concern. What would compel Bally to charge $1,495 for a canvas clutch? I'm sorry, but the handful of leather strips used for the trim simply do not justify that price tag. I think I'll pass on this one Bally, but kudos for finally designing something lust-worthy. If you love this design, pick up the black leather version. It's only an additional 200 bucks and substantially more wearable.

Weekly Celebrity Bag Envy: Kim Kardashian

Kim Kardashian - Hermes Birkin

Although the Kardashians bore me with their scripted reality shows and fallacious drama, I can never get enough of their fashion sense. Kim, in particular, never misses a beat, even on her laid back days. In fact, I'm still obsessing over her Chanel Mademoiselle top-handle that James Michael featured last year. I'm loving how polished she looks here on a trip to indulge in ice cream at Baskin Robbins. Her taupe utilitarian poncho is ultra chic, and the dark denim and oversized sunglasses are a nice completion of the look. Of course, every diva must tote her lavish Hermès Birkin bag when plagued with the impossible decision of choosing between those 31 flavors. If you're earning Kardashian money [65 million dollars in 2010 to be exact], Portero.com is carrying a very similar 35cm Hermès Birkin in classic black togo leather with palladium hardware for a mere $10,495. A girl can dream, can't she?

Decisions, Decisions...

Christian Louboutin Miss Rope Bag, Christian Dior Libertine Hobo, Fendi Forever Borsa Hobo
I was so pleased with all of the responses that I received pertaining to my search for the perfect iPhone case that my mom decided to get in on the fun. She's considering taking a position in Abu Dhabi and of course her biggest concern is locating a handbag that will go with everything. After prowling the depths of the Internet and our local Saks Fifth Avenue, she has decided on three options. The Dior Libertine is a no-brainer. The buttery-soft pleated leather exterior is absolutely stunning and I love the monogrammed gold-tone hardware. Personally, I didn't recommend this style for her, simply because she is literally one Dior bag away from becoming a brand ambassador. I think she already has three, that I know of, and probably more buried in her closet. Not to mention that fact that it's considerably more expensive than the alternatives. I was in complete shock that my mom would even consider the Christian Louboutin Miss Rope Bag, because she has always had the mentality that he should exclusively design footwear. I suppose that's a testament to the fact that he has truly come into his own as a handbag designer. The rope detailing is incredibly innovative and chic, the red lining practically screams, "Louboutin," and the removable strap easily transforms this top-handle into a convenient shoulder bag. The third option is my pick for her, because it's exactly what she wanted; a slouchy, roomy hobo with a sizeable handle drop. The Fendi Forever Borsa Hobo also features one of the coolest logo plaques I've ever seen. So, what do you think of these designs?

VBH Villager Tote

VBH Villager Tote

While I was in New York City last month, I stopped by Bergdorf Goodman to ogle over their extensive handbag department, and nothing took my breath away quite like the new VBH collection. Their level of Italian craftsmanship is incomparable. Each limited-edition design is fashioned out of the highest-quality materials. I was captivated by the sueded python Origami flap bag, but the Villager Tote truly stole my heart. It's structured without being stuffy, so you can easily pair this handbag with denim on your day off. The sumptuous mustard leather is accented perfectly with exact-match stitching. I'm a sucker for luxurious lining and this lightly hued supple suede definitely fits the bill. The golden push-lock is quite sizeable and certainly makes a chic statement. My only complaint is the fact that the sole handle is connected to the framed flap, so accessing your essentials while in transit could prove to be a bit of a hassle. The addition of an optional shoulder strap or an exterior slip pocket would have certainly helped to rectify that problem. Regardless, it's still a beautiful roomy bag that's ideal for the office or even weekend road trips. Preorder at Neiman Marcus for $3,850. The ivory python version below retails for $5,250.

Weekly Fashion Roundup

Academy Awards - Halle Berry, Marchesa
During this Academy Awards season, nude shades stole my heart. They were elegant, feminine and just right for the biggest night of the year in Hollywood. While red was another color that ruled the carpet (honorable mentions to Anne Hathaway and Jennifer Lawrence), these neutral looks from Marchesa earned my best dressed nominations. Both Halle Berry and Hailee Steinfeld (True Grit) looked stunning in their gowns - Halle with a more mature and sexy approach, while Hailee wore a more youthful style, which was in perfect taste for her age.

Academy Awards - Hailee Steinfeld, Marchesa
In other news, Essence magazine has announced a successor to editor-in-chief Angela Burt-Murray: former style editor of eBay, Constance White.

Constance White
White's resume also includes work with the New York Times, Elle, and Talk magazine. In addition, Marcia Ann Gillespie, a former editor-in-chief for Essence throughout the 70s, will return to the mag as a special project director. Hopefully this brings a fresh, burst of change to the publication.

Rihanna - Nivea Ad
Rihanna bared plenty of skin in Nivea's latest campaign - and fittingly so. The brand is bringing in its 100th anniversary with her as the new face for the company. I'm not particularly fond of the tattoos in the shoot, but for once I can tolerate her hair (although I will always mourn the loss of her dark pixie cut).

She is also gracing the April issue of American Vogue, a huge accomplishment for the pop singer. Photographer Annie Leibovitz shot the cover in February, which many are already speculating about. I'm sure Riri won't disappoint - she's far from a bore.

John Galliano
Not to be forgotten, is John Galliano's swift dismissal from Christian Dior, after anti-Semitic remarks spread via a video he was featured in. Minus a head designer, the show went on this week - and the line was reportedly met with warm reception. The question now remains, what (or who's) next for Dior? Galliano was chief designer since 1996.

The Ultimate iPhone Case

iPhone case - Louis Vuitton, Bottega Veneta, Burberry

It's about that time ladies and gentlemen. I'm in desperate need of a new phone. After two years of loyal service, my cheapo flip phone that I purchased as sort of an anti-smartphone declaration is literally falling apart. Luckily, my plan is up for renewal next month, and I'm giddy with anticipation. With my impending relocation to New York City rapidly approaching, I've decided to join the real world and invest in an iPhone. As the editor of Bag Poor, I think it's only fitting that I search far and wide for the ultimate iPhone case and I've discovered three options that fit the bill. They're black, relatively masculine, and most importantly, they're not obnoxiously expensive, but I can't decide which one I like best. Can you help a divo out?

Weekly Celebrity Bag Envy: Rihanna

Rihanna - Dior Delices Gaufre Flap Bag

Its been a busy week for Rihanna. Not only did she teach Ciara a thing or two (much to my amusement) about calling her out on Joan Rivers' Fashion Police via a juicy back and forth twitter beef, but she also challenged Louis Farrakhan. In response to Farrakhan calling her "filthy," she took to twitter to vent about the hypocrisy of a religious figure judging her. I couldn't agree with her more. Despite her sub-par singing voice and sometimes hideous red hair, I find Rihanna admirable in her quickness to counter adverse comments made against her. And what better way to check all your haters than a shopping spree in Sydney, Australia right before kicking off the Aussie Leg of her "Last Girl on Earth" Tour? Of course, the new Nivea spokeswoman cruised the streets of Sydney looking laid back chic in a men's style black shirt dress, a new red wig (which was actually cute), and the uber sexy Christian Louboutin Pigalle Pumps. To top her look off, Rihanna toted the coveted Dior Delices Gaufre Flap Bag. The luxe black lambskin and leather linked strap of this Dior masterpiece more than compliments the high powered singer's image. Purchase at Saks Fifth Avenue for $2650.

Introducing Inés Figaredo...

Inés Figaredo Small Girl Face Bag

For the most part, my taste in handbags can be fairly predictable. I'm typically drawn to glamorous designs with feminine embellishments, from designers like Valentino, or the classic sophistication of time-honored brands like Chanel. However, I can't help but appreciate the beauty of quirky, innovative styles like these handcrafted bags from Spanish designer Inés Figaredo. Combining the highest quality materials with exquisite embroidery and expert craftsmanship, Figaredo is truly an artist and master of haute leather-work and jewelry. These face bags certainly reflect her philosophy that each of her designs are a collector's item. The hand-painted Nappa features silk thread embroidery, 24 karat gold bronze, and Swarovski crystal adornment. The smaller version above is 1650, while the larger variation below retails for 1890. Contact Patricia at her London showroom, Sun & Rain, with purchase inquiries.
