Weekly Fashion Roundup

Fashion mags brought news in a major way this week, and one of my fave sightings was Beyonce on the cover of Dazed & Confused. It doesn't help that I'm currently obsessed with a slew of her "leaked" singles off of her new album "4."

I'm loving her looks for the shoot, from her nail polish to the mix of wardrobe print and color. I also liked this darker, subdued ensemble. She's definitely giving a look reminiscent to her B-day era, but a bit more edgy. In the cover shot, she rocked a crop top and shorts from Givenchy.

Fresh face Herieth Paul is featured on the cover of Canadian Elle and I absolutely love the styling of her white dress and jewelry (although I'm not into that wig). The 17-year-old graced the cover with unapologetic fierceness, and we would hope so, since the mag boldly splashed the words: "Naomi...Move Over!" on the cover.

Not sure about all of that, but she's definitely working that cover!

Causing quite a stir - in a good way - Italian Vogue's three plus-sized beauties gave readers more to look at, and talk about, with this sexy cover shot. In my opinion, American Vogue could take some serious notes on pushing the industry standard. Think back to Italian Vogue's first "all black" issue; kudos to the mag's editor Franca Sozzani.

Why are plus models always naked in magazines?

Beyonce doesn't look dazed or confused !! lol She is one beautiful woman..
I agree that the industry should use more plus size models..maybe they are always naked because they have more to show..:>)

James - I was thinking the same thing. Why are plus sized models always either in their underwear or almost naked if they are to appear in a "mainstream" magazine? Is that the only way the photographer thinks they can make them appealing? It's sexy sure - but plus sized women aren't whores or some sort of side-show they are "women". Why not just have a photo of a beautiful average sized woman on the cover made up like any other model. That so hard? Furthermore - are those ladies seriously plus sized?

Funny story Charlotte. I was on BagPoor earlier today and a coworker asked if Anne Hathaway was one of the "plus-sized" women on that cover. That should pretty much answer your question about whether or not they're actually plus size.

In terms of their clothing, or lack thereof, I'm wondering if they simply can't fit in the tiny sample sizes given to magazines.

LOL - no I'm sure the magazines could order in some clothing. But yeah - I'm sure they wouldn't fit in the sample you're right!

But yeah - these girls can't be any more than a size 12. I don't look at them and see plus size at all. If I had seen this magazine cover on a rack at the grocery store I would have overlooked it completely. I wouldn't have thought "oh look at those lovely plus sized women - how spectacular". I mean - are they really seeking some sort of affirmation for being so generous as to put some size 12 models on the cover? THANKS VOGUE - FOR NOTHING. Our society is so screwed up. Ok /rant off

Ok hold up - I found another article where they show some inside photos http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/06/03/vogue-italia-plus-size_n_870739.html. That first one - yes that is definitely a plus sized model (though again in underwear). The second inside photo though doesn't appear plus sized to me. Doesn't appear anorexic either - but not plus sized. Both gorgeous! But in underwear sheesh.
