What's in my [cosmetic] bag?

Fendi Cosmetic Bag

It's amazing how much my taste in handbags has changed over the years. I've worn everything from a bright red Coach messenger to a pony-hair D&G tote, but the obsession all started with classic monogrammed Fendi and Gucci bags. Never one to follow trends, now that everybody is embracing sophisticated styling, I'm finding myself drawn to the logomania of yesteryear. After my recent trip to New York, I came to the realization that I was in desperate need of a new cosmetic bag, and when I spotted this little beauty at Yoox, I simply couldn't resist. The coated canvas is incredibly durable and will certainly be easier to keep clean than my old faux suede cosmetic bag. I know that some may disagree, but in my opinion, monograms in monochromatic darker hues are just as elegant and timeless as leather.

Male Beauty Products

I figured that some of you may be curious as to what I actually put in my cosmetic bag, so I've decided to share my top five beauty must-haves for Spring.

1. Ouidad Climate Control Heat & Humidity Gel - Seriously tames frizz, even here in Houston.

2. Clarisonic Mia Skin Cleansing System - Promotes smoother, clearer skin and improves the efficacy of other beauty products. I hesitated to purchase this device, due to the hefty price tag, but it's well worth the investment. Trust!

3. Dermalogica Daily Resurfacer - Brightening, tightening, exfoliating... this product does it all.

4. Iman Luxury Radiance Liquid Makeup - For the price, there is no better foundation on the market today. Plus, it's packed full of minerals that truly nourish the skin.

5. Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male Cologne - This crisp, universally pleasing scent is perfect for Spring.

That rounds out my list. Are there any beauty products that you simply can't live without this season?

Yes, I like your little Fendi makeup bag..*heeehee! Just started using Kate Sommerville - the orangey scented facial cleanser. I think I need ExfoliKate too! And I cannot live without Frederic Fekkai Glossing series - shampoo, conditioner and glossing creme. Lllllooovvve the scent! If you like Fekkai too, there is a secret...shhh...you have to order directly from Fekkai in NYC to get the original fomulas! What they are selling now on Sephora and in stores is a new, watered down, different formula, and you can identify this by the shape of the bottle. But Freddie will send you the real thing if you order direct.

I am loving the Fendi cosmetic bag. Yes, subtle monogram is great - LV needs to learn a lesson or two here :) My all time fave beauty product is Maybelline Great Lash mascara in dark brown. I know, I know, it is always on "best of" lists, but it really works for me and I have tried them all! James, give Tom Ford's Extreme cologne a try. I got if for my husband at Christimas - it is AMAZING!

Thank you for all of the lovely compliments. I was quite hesitant about purchasing a monogrammed bag again, especially as a cosmetic case, but you have reassured me that I made a wise decision. I officially started using it yesterday and I seriously love it.

Thank you for the tip Hope. I was actually going to pick up some of his shampoo and conditioner at Bath and Body Works because I had a coupon, and I pretty much hate all of their products. Now I know better.

I'll see if I can snag a sample of the Tom Ford cologne Gail. I love Tom Ford and Lord knows I can't afford any of his menswear... lol.

Have a fabulous weekend ladies! We'll be back on Monday.

Love the cosmetic bag! I agree that monograms are fine on smaller accessories and in darker hues. I'll admit I'm not a huge fan of them on regular sized canvas totes... probably because I've seen way too many fake Speedies growing up.
