My apologies for being a day late, but dealing with a sick 2 year old necessitates frequent and impromptu emergency room visits. However, I just had to share this bag with all the Bagpoor readers because it's my absolute favorite bag of the moment.
My current obsession, the Miss Rope Bag, comes to you courtesy of Christian Louboutin. I know what you're probably thinking, "A must-have bag from Louboutin? Really?" YES!!! I'd venture to say not much descriptive writing is needed to convey to everyone reading this why the Miss Rope is so amazingly perfect. First, it's a lady-like satchel that heralds back to the day of your mom {or grandma's} framed handbag. And though I am a sucker for framed bags, I love that this design is decidedly softer than the bags it was inspired by. The allure of a structured bag is here, but the edges are rounded {sigh}. Then there are, of course, the tube-like accents on the flap top to discuss. These protuberances are Miss Rope's raison d'être - it's reason for being. If the design would exist sans the v-shaped, leather-covered tubes, it would be a fine bag but certainly nothing special.
This lovely bag comes in several colors, but my preference is for this taupe version with the perfect addition of gunmetal hardware. You can purchase it through Net-a-Porter.com for $1495 - a price that's more than fair for such a well-executed design. Thanks, Louby! It's nice to know you can make drool-worthy accessories other than shoes.

You beat me to it Dania. I adore this bag... everything about it! I hope your son feels better soon.
We all must be on total handbag telepathy today because I was drooling over this bag this a.m. when I saw it on NAP, and the taupe color in particular, especially gunmetal instead of a shiny silver hardware. I am in the market for a spring/summer bag. My only concern is the opening if left open, i.e. will the bag just stay flopped open? Will hope to see IRL. Would also love an outside pocket at the back of the bag (I know, I know...)
Oh, Gail, you're too much. I thought the same about a nice slit pocket running across the back, but then the leather-covered tube would have to stop short of running all the way around the bag, which I love. As for the bag staying "flopped open", the answer would be yes unless you use the detachable shoulder strap. Carrying it by the top handle is more desirable, but you would need to prop the bag up on a table or counter if you needed to pull something out like your wallet.
This is the biggest trade off, design-wise, when a top handle is attached to the fold-over flap and not the sides, but I'd be willing to accept that inconvenience because the design benefits in aesthetics by placing the handle on the flap.
I like the idea of all of us sharing handbag E.S.P. :-)
And thank you, James, for thinking of the little tike. An ear infection and hives are kicking his behind {not to mention mines}.
Very simple yet enough to make a statement, gorgeous.
Love this bag and the neutral color Dania. There's something about the softness that reminds me a bit of the Smythson Nancy tote (which I adore!) that I wrote about awhile back, but this is even simpler and probably an even better bet for the everyday. Love!
p.s. Hoping that your son is better!

You are right Dania, there really isn't a place for an outside pocket without removing the "rope accent", which really does take this bag from good to great.
Hope your little one is much better soon!
