We were the first blog to bring you the scoop on the hobo as well as the tote, and we're back with the latest from the Chloé Marcie collection...a messenger! Is there anything left to say about these bags? We're still in love with the zippered flap that features stitch detailing, hanging strips of leather, and an understated embossed logo. The sumptuous pebbled leather comes in whiskey and ocean blue (my fave). While all three styles are perfectly appropriate for casual weekend wear, this is certainly the most boho chic version. Pair it with jeans, sandals, and a t-shirt and you're out the door in effortless style. Purchase exclusively at Net-a-Porter.com for $1265.

Christian Louboutin Python Clutch
I'm a sucker for Louboutin shoes, but I never thought I would feel the same way about their bags. This metallic python clutch is undeniably gorgeous. The silver python skin creates the illusion of a mirror effect that is eye-catching against the scales. Speaking of the scales, I love that the exotic skin on this bag is not smooth. The textured python makes this piece more interesting than the usual snake skin bags that we see all the time. Although the bag is tiny, it's bound to be a hit with any outfit. Perhaps the smallest detail on the bag - the clasp closure - is the cutest aspect of the clutch. If you look closely, you can see that the clasp is actually in the shape of a sexy pair of stilettos. The bag is just...HOT...and you can purchase it at Matches Fashion for $1,069.20.

Dior Python Detective Briefcase
I just got to "work" and I'm finally getting around to flipping through April's Elle. It's jam packed full of gorgeous accessories for Spring, most notably this Dior python briefcase that shows up three times in the issue. With men's tailoring making a major comeback in the Fall collections, this is the perfect accessory to instantly update your wardrobe. The classic shape exemplifies my philosophy when it comes to exotic skinned bags. "Invest in pieces that will stand the test of time and never spend more than $1500 on a trendy bag!" Obviously this briefcase is geared towards executives, but the shoulder strap, hanging signature Dior charm, python skin, and understated scale achieves a feminine aesthetic, often lacking in corporate wear. I know it's a minute detail, but I love the logo plaque. It's sophisticated and not pretentious or ostentatious at all. Dolce & Gabbana should take note. Call 800-929-DIOR or stop by your nearest Dior boutique to pick up this luxurious briefcase for $7400. To get the look for less than half the price, check out the Proenza Schouler python PS1.

Alexander Wang Cher Siamese Clutch
I have been staring at this bag for days and I still cannot decide how I feel about it. On one hand I love the layering of the two clutches on top of each other, but on the other hand, I'm not feeling the leopard print hair-calf panel against the black suede asymmetric clutch. I am not sure if I only want to like the clutch because I like Alexander Wang bags or because this bag has more to offer fashionistas around the world than I can see right now. Either way, there is something about this piece that does not grab me. Maybe this Siamese clutch is just mediocre - not the best, but not the worst. Sometimes I find it hard to admit that to myself. Nevertheless, I must say that I appreciate the fact that this bag is oversized and funky for the person who is bored with the predictable shape of clutches. If you have decided that you love this clutch, then purchase it at shopbop for $820.

Yves Saint Laurent Totem Bag
The Yves Saint Laurent Totem bags that we all fell in love with for Fall are officially on sale! I love the classic shape and lady-like style that's so hot right now. The African violet ostrich version is absolutely breathtaking and it's nearly half off at $2799. If you're completely unaffected by the recession or you epitomize the bag poor mindset, pick up the dark turquoise crocodile variation for $17950 $8999. Obviously these bags aren't for anyone that's new to the handbag world. However, if you already have your timeless Hermès and Chanel bags in neutral shades, don't pass up this amazing opportunity to add a splash of color into your wardrobe with one of these breathtaking bags. They're just so luxurious, elegant and sophisticated. Hurry because deals like this don't last long.

Alexander McQueen Atlantis Clutch
Plexi is so in for Spring and I know that quite a bit of you were not daring enough to rock the clear Fendi Plexiglas clutch that I featured back in January. Well, you're in luck! One of the most subdued handbags from Alexander McQueen's awe-inspiring Spring collection is finally available online and it's plexi! The Atlantis Clutch is sort of a distorted bowling bowl and I love it! In true Alexander McQueen fashion, it's completely original, futuristic and relatively wearable. Personally, I'd pair this clutch with a monochromatic outfit and paint the town...well...black. Purchase the Alexander McQueen Atlantis Plexi Clutch at Net-a-porter for £680. Yikes...it sold out already, but I'm sure they'll replenish the stock shortly.

Yaz Oversized Snakeskin Hobo
I'm kind of in love with the Yaz Oversized Snakeskin Hobo! The sizeable capacity and 10" drop will certainly make it the ultimate grab-and-go bag in your wardrobe. It's so slouchy, sumptuous and Italian chic. The python skin injects a touch of luxe to an otherwise casual bag. Can we talk for a moment about the idea of wrinkled snakeskin? It's a concept that I've never seen before, and I think it's modern and actually makes the exotic skin less pretentious. Even the chain straps are intertwined with snakeskin, adding comfort and style. It does have a zippered closure, which I normally wouldn't point out, but you never know with hobos. Who wants the contents of their bag to be up for grabs? I live for the denim hue, but it's also available in chocolate and nude, which literally just sold out. Purchase at Intermix for $1250.

Christian Louboutin Studded Bags
I've been eyeing the Christian Louboutin Mariana Hobo for a while now and I finally got to see it in real life yesterday. It's absolutely breathtaking! The sumptuous Italian leather is accented with a gazillion light gold-tone studs and comfortable flat chain straps, that could have been slightly longer if you ask me. This is definitely a statement bag that will get you noticed everywhere you go. Thanks to the oversized pull, the zip-top is super functional and who can argue with so much interior space? Of course, it's lined in Loubou's signature red-canvas, which I love. There's only one problem and it's kind of major. All that leather and hardware makes for a HEAVY bag! If you've been strength training lately, purchase the Mariana Hobo HERE for $2848. There is a lighter option, however, that's significantly more affordable and understated; the clutch version. The pleated detailing is stylish and you know I love a wristlet for effortlessly chic transport. Purchase the Christian Louboutin Lolita Clutch HERE for $1135.

Devi Kroell Origami Eel Envelope Bag

Michael and I were obsessed with Devi Kroell's handbag collection last season, so we've been waiting to see what's new for Spring. Unfortunately, every piece is completely lackluster. The addition of a mediocre RTW collection has greatly affected the handbag design, which has increasingly become less inspired. We still love the brand and we've resorted to featuring our favorite design from their classic collection. It was love at first sight when I saw this Devi Kroell Envelope bag. I don't know if it was the teal color, the origami design, or the box chain that captured me, but I was drawn to every chic inch of it. The beautiful origami detailing is well executed. Designs that fully envelope handbags can be overwhelming, but Devi Kroell gets it right every time. My only complaint is the fact that it's impossible to detect the eel skin and therefore, the $1490 price tag isn't justified. Besides the gorgeous teal color, this bag is also available in black and bamboo, which is inexplicably marked up to $1790. Purchase directly from Devi Kroell.

Marc by Marc Flash Slingdoodle
I know that quite a bit of you are obsessed with haute bags, but don't necessarily want to take out a home equity loan to get one. Well you're in luck! Usually I'm not impressed with Marc Jacobs' more affordable collection of handbags, because they seem like after thoughts in comparison to his high-end line. However, with the economy sending his typical clientele to Coach outlet stores, he decided to step his game up. My favorite bag for Spring is the Flash Slingdoodle. This isn't your typical hobo ladies. The super slouchy shape allows for a multitude of looks, including the ever popular cross-body style. The slightly glazed leather features gold-tone zipper detailing for that rocker chic "model off duty" look that we all love. The magnetic closure and sizeable interior adds function to style. Purchase at Shopbop.com for $458.

Ports 1961 Clutches
Even though Ports 1961 was recently launched in 2006, it is definitely a name to be reckoned with. The elegance and exquisite craftsmanship that is exhibited throughout the line is clearly exemplified in the El Clutch. The pleated detailing on the glazed stingray leather gives the bag a thin and structured look. There is something about the simplicity of this bag that just grabs me. Not to mention the fact that it's only $395.00 at shopbop.
The Envelope Clutch is made of genuine leather and looks thin enough to be confused for a real envelope. The geometric shape of the bag highlights the pleat and fold detail that Ports 1961 does so well. My favorite feature is the peek-a-boo raw lining on the sides of the clutch. If you want this bag, hurry to shopbop and purchase it for $495.00 because there are only 3 left!

Michael Kors 'Skorpios' Pleated Hobo
Michael Kors has been cranking out bag after amazing bag and they're all wearable. I'm in love with the 'Skorpios' Pleated Hobo! The sumptuous pleated cream leather is accented with contrasting brown piping and a woven shoulder strap. The black version features golden hardware, and I find the combination to be rather chic. This hobo is quite sizeable and effortlessly accessible so it's perfect for busy moms on the go. My only complaint is the hanging logo tag, but it appears easily removable. I know I featured a similar Michael Kors bag not too long ago, but I think the pleated detailing adds such an elegant dimension to the overall design. Purchase at Stylebop for $1080.

Bianca Balti's Miu Miu Sequined Tote
Model, Bianca Balti was spotted werqing this gorgeous sequined Miu Miu tote during Paris Fashion Week and I've been obsessed ever since. Sequins are one of the biggest trends of the season, and contrary to popular belief, they can be quite chic on large bags, especially when paired with a monochromatic black outfit that's mostly Balmain. The black leather tote is completely enveloped in silver and black sequins. Sequins can be over the top glam, but on such a timeless bag with a classic shape... they totally work. The signature twist-lock is easy to use and the detachable shoulder strap allows for cross-body action. Purchase the Miu Miu sequined tote at Net-a-Porter.com for $1,350. There was an interesting article in last month's Harper's Bazaar about wearing sequins during the day. Stylist Mary Alice Stephenson stated that, "now it's appropriate to be inappropriate" while Michael Kors thinks that if a normal person wears sequins to the office, her co-workers would ask, "What time's the bar mitzvah?" What do you think? Would you wear this bag before 8PM? You already know my answer to that question, but if you're not as daring, pick up the leather variation at Net-a-Porter.com for $1,695.

Designer Spotlight: Lee Mattocks
I'm ecstatic about today's post because I've never been so intrigued by a handbag designer! Lee Mattocks has only been designing leather accessories for one year and has already made quite a name for himself in the UK. In fact, he was invited to exhibit his beloved piece, 'Dali for Gala,' at Lulu Guinness' 20th Anniversary Celebration, which took place at the prestigious Victoria and Albert Museum.
Having trained in fine art for six years, Mattocks is a surrealist artist first and foremost, drawing much of his inspiration from Salvidor Dali. Through his extensive research, he was struck by Dali's love and obsessive relationship with his wife, Gala. Mattocks wondered what Dali would have made for his wife if he were an expert accessories designer. Therefore, 'Dali for Gala' is a love poem, in bag form, from Dali to Gala. Mattocks jokes that the 'Dali for Gala' bag is a handbag in its truest form, because it literally features hand-carved brass hands, that actually transform into birds in the reflection of the mirror. I know right...how amazing is that? Personally, I'm obsessed with the clutch version. It features suede with linear stitch detailing and patent leather trim as well as a bright red lining. The pronounced feet and bunny, hand-carved by Mattocks himself, add the perfect touch of whimsy.
The Palace Bag is my favorite piece that he has designed thus far. The incorporation of taxidermy left me speechless. Luckily, this beautiful quote from Mattocks himself echoes my sentiments exactly. "Surrealism for the 21st century woman...more artistic techniques and meaningful symbolism in fashion products that challenge the industry, ignite personal associations and memories within the consumer through "dream-space" and reflect the bizarre beauty in our world."
I'd like to thank Lee Mattocks for all of the background information and images as well as Handbag Designer 101 for continuing to give new designers a platform. My firm belief that designers can do something completely fresh and original with handbags has been restored! For more information about Lee Mattocks, check out his London College of Fashion Masters Show!

They Call Me Mellow YELLOWWW
There's a serious color trend going on in the handbag section of every major department store...YELLOW! I'll admit that it's not my favorite hue in the world, but it will certainly stand out in a boring handbag collection. Have you ever noticed how many compliments you receive while wearing something daring? Don't be afraid to take a risk with color. Here are a few of my favorite yellow bags for Spring! I must start with the Lanvin Happy PM Python Shoulder Bag! It pretty much incorporates every trend into one breathtaking bag. Yellow showcases the flawless python skin perfectly. I live for the chain links, which feature grosgrain ribbon wrapped straps for shoulder comfort as well as bow and coin detailing. $2550 is a small price to pay for such a classic flap front design that will never go out of style. Pick up the Lanvin Happy PM Python Shoulder Bag at Barneys. Let's move on to the gorgeous Paige Gamble Stingray Clutch. It's timeless design and subtle shade of yellow will look so chic with your summer dresses. Stingray is the perfect introduction into the wonderful world of exotic skins because it's affordable and understated. Gamble always treats her bags, so you don't have to worry about sloshed champagne or scratches. We all know how crazy those garden parties can get. Did I mention that this little beauty was featured on Luca Luca's Spring 2010 runway? It's available at Paige Gamble for $1400. Can we talk for a moment about the unabashedly yellow Bottega Veneta Yolk Shiny Calf Tote Bag? The Italian calfskin is so supple and I love the grommet detailing as well as the scalloped hem. This tote is by no means typical for Bottega Veneta, but it's a fun departure in my opinion. Purchase directly from Bottega Veneta for $1850.

Goyard's got some brand new bags...
...and they're kind of boring and outrageously overpriced! Let's start with the Leather Vendome. The classic shape is quintessentially Goyard and of course the leather is buttery-soft perfection. The roomy interior is perfect for busy mom's and corporate women alike. My only complaint is the wood paneling. Yes, you read correctly! That is indeed wood paneling at the base of the handles and it appears to be shellacked. It immediately conjured up memories of those old station wagons with wood paneling that always beg the question, Was that EVER in style? Can we talk for a moment about the price? I know it's Goyard, but $6870 for a bland satchel with wood paneling. No thanks, I'd much rather have 3 LV Alma's and take my entire family out to a fabulous dinner to celebrate not buying this ridiculous bag. The Medium Saigon is certainly a better design. I love the Goyard print and the grandma chic aesthetic totally works for such a traditional brand. I'm not even offended by the wooden handle. However, the wood paneling still doesn't work for me. It's slightly more reasonably priced at $2940. For those of you that are interested, these bags are available at Barneys.

Weekly Fashion Roundup!
Rihanna attended the Echo Awards in Berlin on Thursday wearing what can only be described as a Green Goblin costume. She's also rocking a new blonde bowl cut and stunning nude patent leather Loubou's! Thoughts?
Chanel launched its first ever online brochure entitled 'Latin Lover.' The photographs by Karl Lagerfeld feature pieces from the Spring Summer 2010 collection and Baptiste Giabiconi of course.
Carine Roitfeld has pissed off Nicolas Ghesquière for the last time! French Vogue has officially been banned from Balenciaga shows and the label no longer lends them clothes or advertises in the magazine. Yikes...wonder what she did?!?
Here's the preview of Christian Siriano's long awaited documentary, which will air on Bravo, April 5. The program will follow Siriano as he prepares for Fashion Week, does Emmy fittings, and balances his personal and work lives.

Dries Van Noten Python Clutch
How fun is this Dries Van Noten clutch? It will instantly update your humdrum Winter wardrobe with Studio 54 glitz and glamour. The metallic green python skin is breathtaking and so original. A concealed magnetic closure will save you countless hours of struggling to snap your clutch closed. Don't you hate that? The interior is refreshingly organized with two compartments separated by a zippered pocket. Not to mention the fact that the lining is silk. Now that's what I call luxe! Honestly, I'm thrilled that the embellished grosgrain wrist-tie is removable, because it's a bit over the top for a daytime look and almost cheapens the overall design. With that being said, I'm impressed with the direction that Dries took with this bag and I'm actually excited to see what's next from a design house whose handbags have never warranted a second glance. Purchase at Browns Fashion for £720.00 ($1,087.20).

Carlos Falchi Tie-Side Bag
Who doesn't love a ginormous tote? You can throw everything in them without any concern for space. Sure, they can get a bit heavy, but they're well worth it when you don't have to answer the age old question that has plagued fashionistas since the beginning of time...Vogue or my laptop? I actually had the pleasure of feeling up this gorgeous Carlos Falchi tote yesterday and let me tell you...it is the softest, squishiest, supplest leather in the world. It was designed to resemble the bags that artists use to carry around their supplies. The tie-detailing not only looks really cool, but it allows the bag to expand, so you have the option of using it as a weekender. Like all Carlos Falchi bags, the lining is a fun colorful printed nylon. Purchase the taupe leather version at Bergdorf Goodman for a very reasonable $895. If your heart desires the chocolate ostrich variation with black crocodile trim, it's merely $4100, also at Bergdorf Goodman. We can dream...can't we? Please avoid the fugly white adaptation.

Valentino Floral Flap Clutch
Flower detailing is certainly not new for Valentino, which is why this floral flap bag is so beautifully made. Clearly this piece is not your everyday clutch. The textured flowers that cover the front flap are strategically positioned in a way that is not overwhelming or overdesigned. It's so difficult to find a bag with creative dimensional features that work, but Valentino makes it appear effortless. Although the clutch may look like a fabric bag, it's actually made entirely of leather. The gray wrinkled leather flowers lay flawlessly on the bag like a piece of art. The Valentino Floral Flap Clutch is only available in limited quantities for $1,795. Shop Valentino bags at Net-a-Porter.com.

Burberry Fringed Calfskin Handbag
I adore the Burberry Prorsum Spring collection and this bag really stands out as a season lust-have. The gorgeous metallic calfskin is so supple and I love the frayed detailing, because it incorporates the fringe trend without being over the top. It's quite large at 16 1/2"W x 11"H x 5"D so super petite or thin women may want to reconsider because your bag should always be proportional to your body. My favorite design aspect is the ginormous knot detail! It gives the bag such a sophisticated and elegant touch. Purchase the Burberry Fringed Calfskin Leather Handbag for $1695. Shop Burberry bags at Net-a-Porter.com.
