Ode to Wendy Williams

I'm obsessed with Wendy Williams! She's unabashedly herself and you either love it or you hate it. With Tyra Banks starting to take her show way too seriously, Wendy arrived right on time as far as I'm concerned. It's great to just have fun for an hour everyday with the ultimate friend in my head. We get to dish about celebrity gossip, chat it up with some of my favorite reality TV stars, and boogie to the "bestest" pop star performances. Now that's my kind of talk show! But I digress. On a much more serious note, Stacy London, from What Not to Wear, recently stopped by the show to discuss the hottest handbag trends for Spring. And then it happened. Wendy revealed that she wears a fanny pack on the weekends! Stacy and I simultaneously clutched our pearls and let out a gay gasp. Why would anyone, let alone Wendy Williams, wear a fanny pack? But after careful consideration, I came to the realization that...

...maybe they're "back" in? After all, the style icon, Rihanna was recently spotted rocking a Louis Vuitton fanny pack that Chanel Iman catwalked in the Spring 2010 show.

Not to mention the fact that one of my favorite vintage boutiques in L.A., Decades, is currently selling three 80's Chanel fanny packs, that I could actually see myself wearing. So what's your verdict?

I love Wendy Williams too!!! She speaks her mind and I admire people like that. While I think she's the cat's meow, I can't accept the fanny pack wearing thing. Bags were never meant to be worn that way. You better be rail thin if you want to carry a FP or you'll end up looking like a kangaroo. I get that Marc Jacobs thought fanny packs were OK 'cause he's nuts like that, but the fact that Chanel ever made them makes me cringe in disbelief.

I say fanny packs are never, ever OK. Just my two cents...

Maybe not even Rihanna looks great with her fanny bag.

P.S. Totally agree with you on the Vera Wang pre-fall ~ some of it looked like a Rodarte ripoff and the rest was just uggggly!

OMG! I have to tell you that fanny packs are actually seen all over down here in Panama...men and women all alike wear them! I was so surprised when I first saw them, but many people are sportin' them and love them!!

I love Wendy Williams too. And yes, I will wear a fanny pack if it's designer's. Hahaha! Well, actually I really have a use for it. I put my camera batteries and memory cards inside when I am out on a shoot.

I sure hope the fanny pack does NOT come back and I'm so sorry to say that I'm not a fan of Rihanna's style. at. all.

I know what you mean Nina! I can never seem to remember how to walk without a bag. It's like my equilibrium is off or something.

Amanda - Well there go my dreams of someday visiting Panama...lol! ;)

I wanted to give everyone else an opportunity to chime in before I told my personal fanny pack story. When Carrie Bradshaw wore that Gucci belt bag on Sex and the City, I immediately knew I had to have it. It's been about 6 years and I still don't own one so that should tell you my opinion of them. If Patricia Field couldn't convince me to buy one, then Rihanna definitely can't. They're just not attractive.

Do you even have to ask Mr. Jeffery? Those LV trash bags are absolutely ridiculous, especially the price!
